Henry Sale
Henry Sale was a husband, a father of three, and a friend to many. His love for the countryside was a defining characteristic throughout his life, making land agency an obvious choice for him from an early age. After growing up in Northumberland, Henry came South to Reading University to read land management. He loved his time there, meeting friends he would keep for life through playing rugby, cricket and squash. After university he went straight into land agency in 1984 in the Midlands area. His hard work ethic, astute commercial mind, and passion for people and the countryside made him excel here. In 2000, he became joint managing partner of Fisher German, and devoted his working life to building and diversifying the company. His forward thinking, commitment to clients and strategic planning defined Henry. In 1986 Henry married Jane, and 4 years later their first child, Laura, was born. In 1993 Harriet followed, and in 1996 Archie was born. Henry's pastimes in his later years were field sports of all types. He was a keen shot, an avid huntsman, and many a Summer holiday were spent with the family up in Scotland in pursuit of the elusive salmon. His family continues to share his passions and interests.
Our Story
The Trustees set up the foundation in 2015 to commemorate Henry's life. Our intention was to celebrate his life, and use our memories of him in supporting charitable causes that he would have thought important. We hope through our work, some of what made Henry is being put back in to the world. The concept of the Foundation was initiated by Andrew Jackson and Richard Sanders, joint managing partner and senior partner respectively at Fisher German with Henry. Although Fisher German run a Henry Sale bursary and an annual cricket tournament, the Henry Sale Cup, Richard and Andrew believed it would be a good idea to set up the Foundation outside of the work place to reflect the other areas of Henry's life. The Foundation is very grateful for the time and funding received from the Fisher German partners, who kindly pledge a proportion of their profits to the Foundation each year. This is how the Foundation raises its funds, along with regular fundraising events throughout the year.
